Health Care Again

healthCareInsanity

Steve doesn’t like this cartoon.  His point, I think, is that the people making these irrational charges aren’t the ones who’ve been thrown off their insurance and left with the bills.  So I have here the conflation of John Q. Public into a single person.  Well, what can you do?  This stuff enrages me.  It makes me bruxate!  Because, you see, these people may not have been thrown to the wolves, but I would bet that most of them could be at any moment and if they have their way, some of them will be.  The Calculus of Insanity is tough.  It’s always hard to say what’s craziest.  But people who are on Medicare railing against government run medical programs is pretty well up there.

I spend year in and year out flabbergasted, depressed, enraged, hopeless with the American Public’s dogged determination to militate directly against their own interests.

Okay.  I have fumed.

Steve?  Anyone?

please don’t try to get into what wrong with kansas kind of talk. its very simple, fox news watchers want to believe in lies and never want any rational thinking or intelligent discussion. also i met someone recently who happened to come to help us jump our dead car and then helped us find a way home from greenfield area where our car died!! anyway, john, the good hearted samaritan told us, his mother watches fox news and she hates the world, she wants others to suffer and go to hell!! so, that’s the truth, these crazy people are really scared and hate-mongers.

So we have a generation of people who were raised on hours of TV as their baby sitter, fast food as their nutrition and computer games for entertainment – communication is largely through e-mail and texting – what do you expect! Thinking is no longer required or encouraged. Could this be devolution (or deviloution)?

I drew a cartoon too. It’s not here. I haven’t offered it up to my local newspaper because it is kind of raw. That is how I feel about this whole issue.

    Raw.

This issue goes beyond cartoon politicks. And it’s not a pretty sight.

Australia has “Medicare”– FREE treatment for all (it’s taken out of taxes) Those who can afford medical insurance pay and pay again, but they get a little back.
Its a good system, but long waiting lists.

As a cartoonist I can appreciate the thought that went into that cartoon, Michael. You gots the think down pat! And there’s no mistaking your ‘ink’. The slogans are the essence of the nasty extreme language that has been surfacing at these faux rage staged for tv actions at the town hall meetings. The whole schtick is so orchestrated that it shows, but so far no one is pointing out how orchestrated it really is.

My one suggestion that would make your piece tell that tale is if you put those little cartoony from the 1930′s wind-up keys in all those little people’s backs, or better yet put remote controls in the hands of their handlers and little radio antennaes out the top of their heads.

That ‘s the real point. They’re shallow thinking shills for some big actors.

You got that part right. Show the manipulation and it’s a wrap, dude!

At the Somerville town hall this week there was a small but loud contingent of those LaRouche folk (aka the Hitler-moustache-on-Obama people).

I hope we get a national health care plan that includes excellent mental health coverage.
