I suppose everyone has their own Emily. This beautiful drawing is Colleen’s response to Why do they shut me out of heaven? Where I see spiritual despair, spiritual starvation, she sees Emily Rising, Emily Fulfilled, Emily the Beautiful. Go figure!

Gosh, Emily – get thee to a drapery!
Perhaps the misogynists who run the place feared that she would seduce them; HEAVEN FORBID.

When I imagined this one, I couldn’t get Michaelangelo’s fickle finger of the ‘Big Goy’ out of my mind, so I googled it and drew its every 15th century draping of finger. Then I drew Emily by googling her one photograph and getting lost in her wonderful eyes. Then just for fun, I gave Emily little versions of that big overstated hand, pointed at different directions in this multidirectional universe we inhabit.
Those flights of extasy she’s so good at capturing could not be given short shrift, so I opened her shift and the rest, you might say, is herstory.
Ah, Victoria!
The big finger is pointing to Heaven on earth Emily. It’s all there for one with your beauty, sexuality and voice.
(Love your Emily Colleen)
