Not having been in any position to see what happened, I don’t have any idea of who was right and wrong in this unfortunate incident except to say that establishing a jewish nation in an region they hadn’t occupied for two thousand years because of international guilt about having allowed Hitler to conduct his genocide was, to say the very least, was not a gem of wisdom..

Are you implying that the standard to which we hold Israel should be the same as the standard to which we expect the Taliban to perform? There’s a big difference between the number of people killed, certainly. However, in one case, it’s a state-sanctioned killing and in another case it’s a terrorist-sanctioned killing. These are apples and oranges.
I don’t think people are saying “hohum some Muslims died.” The issue is that we have different expectations about the behavior of the leadership of the two groups of murders and we’re surprised about the behavior of one of them but not at all surprised about the behavior of the other.
Its just as bad in Australia!
